The psychological crime drama, Adolescence, achieved viral success upon its debut in March 2025. The series, conceived by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, and directed by Philip Barantini, received immense acclaim for its outstanding storytelling and performances. It has now reached a remarkable milestone, positioning itself as Netflix's second largest English-language series, surpassing Stranger Things Season 4 with 141.2 million views. The top spot remains held by Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday, which amassed 252.1 million views within its first 91 days. This announcement followed Adolescence’s impressive performance at the recent Gotham TV Awards in New York, where it won accolades for Breakthrough Limited Series along with two acting awards for its leads, Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper, as reported by The Guardian.

The immensely popular series, Adolescence, has now officially been recognized as Netflix's second largest English-language production. This news emerged after the show won the Breakthrough Limited Series award and two acting honors at the Gotham TV Awards this year for stars Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper. With 141.2 million views since its March release, Adolescence has taken the lead over Stranger Things Season 4. Meanwhile, Wednesday still holds the top position with 252.1 million views during its initial 91 days. Expressing gratitude for his recognition, Graham, who played family patriarch Eddie Miller, shared, “We’re overwhelmed by the way you have embraced us. This was a heartfelt piece made with love, respect, humility, and dignity, approached with both passion and care.”

Adolescence narrates the story of a 13-year-old boy who is arrested after being accused of killing a female classmate. The series has received widespread praise for its plot, writing, cinematography, and its sensitive portrayal of critical issues. It has sparked significant discussions about ongoing online misogyny and rising youth violence. Earlier, creator Hannah Walters and star Stephen Graham mentioned to Variety that the potential for a second season exists. While no official confirmation regarding Season 2 has been issued, they expressed optimism about developing the narrative further. Netflix’s Adolescence celebrated another milestone recently, as it became the platform's second largest English-language TV series, accumulating 141.2 million views since its launch and surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, which had 140.7 million views.
