Xiaomi 17 Ultra has just been released in China as the fourth phone in the company's main series of smartphones. The other models, Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, were revealed in September. While there are currently four phones in this series, rumors suggest that another model will be introduced featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is the same chip used in the other Xiaomi 17 phones. This new phone is expected to have relatively slim edges and a periscope telephoto camera. A leak on Weibo from Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) mentions that a new leading smartphone is in testing and is likely to have only “slight” adjustments compared to the current models. Gizmochina reports that these details refer to a future Xiaomi 17 series phone. If this information is correct, this would be the fifth phone in the series that includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The leaker has also revealed some specifications about this upcoming device.
The unknown Xiaomi 17 series smartphone is expected to use the same powerful octa-core 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor from Qualcomm found in the other models in the lineup. It may come with either a 6.8-inch or 6.9-inch flat screen, which is likely to have “very thin edges” (translated from Chinese). The phone is also rumored to have a periscope telephoto camera on the back. The leaker states that this device might be released in China in the first half of 2026. This announcement follows the launch of Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China on December 25 at a starting price of CNY 6,999 (about Rs. 90,000) for the basic model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The highest variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage was priced at CNY 8,499 (around Rs. 1,09,000). The phone can currently be purchased in China through the Xiaomi online shop in Black, White, Cold Smoky Purple, and Starry Green colors (translated from Chinese).
